PlanPal ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the PlanPal mobile application and website (the "Service").

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Create and manage your account
• Enable you to create events, RSVP, and communicate with friends
• Send you push notifications about events, messages, and friend requests
• Help your friends find and connect with you
• Verify your age meets the minimum requirement
• Enforce our Terms of Service and protect against misuse
• Respond to your requests and provide customer support

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With your friends on PlanPal: Your username, display name, profile photo, bio, and event activity are visible to users you have added as friends.
• Service providers: We use Google Firebase for authentication, data storage, push notifications, and hosting. Google processes data on our behalf under their data processing terms.
• Apple: If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple processes your authentication. We receive only the information you authorize Apple to share.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PlanPal, our users, or the public.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers located in the United States. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and Firestore security rules that restrict data access based on user identity. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Event data and associated chat messages are automatically deleted 90 days after the event date. When you delete your account, we promptly delete your profile data, events you created, and your friend connections. Some data may persist in backups for a limited period before being permanently removed.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access and update: You can view and edit your profile information at any time through the app.
• Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and associated data from the profile settings in the app.
• Push notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
• Contacts access: You can revoke PlanPal's access to your contacts through your device settings at any time.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to data portability, the right to object to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. 7. Children's Privacy

PlanPal is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will take steps to terminate their account and delete their personal information promptly. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account on PlanPal, please contact us immediately.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access.

9. International Data Transfers

If you are accessing PlanPal from outside the United States, please be aware that your data is transferred to and stored on servers in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers as required by applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means prior to the change becoming effective. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
